Beach House, Michigan City, Indiana
We designed this in 2008 to help the owner/builder sell his lot. He recently found a buyer who wants to build this house with a few changes, such as changing the barrel vault to a pitched roof. We'll post updates in the near future, here and on our Facebook page.

New Residence; Michigan City, Indiana
The owner is also a builder. He
bought a set of plans and had us modify them to his liking. The
original design had arched windows and a huge chimney that separated
the dining room from the living room. The final product looks little like the original.
The exterior was originally designed
with arched windows. We proposed using diamond-topped windows
projecting above the eave to create unique dormers. The drywaller and
framer both found this detail to be a challenge but all liked the
result.

Spec Home Revival
Nine years later the same builder had us revise a spec home he had built to sell but ended up keeping. We tailored to his family's lifestyle with a major front porch renovation, new three-car garage, conversion of the garage to a new family room, and overhaul of the kitchen.
We provided a unique massing to the house structure. Donna Natale Mason Interior Design developed the dynamic arts and crafts color pallette.

Residential Observatory Addition; Grand Beach, Michigan
Challenge of adding an observatory for a house on Lake Michigan with little room to expand. Addition toward the lake originally featured an observatory on "stilts", but later proposed going ahead with living space on the two levels below. Design is currently in progress.

New Residence on an Existing Foundation, Valparaiso, indiana
This client came to us wanting to demolish his existing house and build a new on this site near a small lake. They wanted us to explore the use of glass block.
The project did not go beyond the study phase as the client could not receive the sought variance.

| Studies for a Private Residence; Grand Beach, Michigan: We were hired to do studies for a modern on Lake Michigan. This person consulted other architects but felt they had monumental, non-functional solutions. While our client liked ours best, this was never pursued beyond design. Done at DAH Architects

| Projects Done at our Chesterton Home |
We are proud of the work we have done to our first home of 11 years. We fully renovated the kitchen in 1996 and completed a new deck in 1998. We refinished many wood floors under carpet and restored plaster walls and ceilings. Upstairs bookshelves and handrail are accented with pin lighting and provide a great deal of storage for books, CD's, and cassettes. Reluctantly, we sold it to move closer to Tim's new job in Evanston and allow Lauren to be close to the Chicago work pool. But our work paid off in that it sold in less than a week.
